Chronology of cameras Van Neck

This version of the Van Neck Press camera is a custom made modification, but most probably made in the factory of Peeling and Van Neck. This type of the modification was common in the UK before WWII for the press reporters. It adds rigidity to the device and thus allows for a longer life under heavy use. Similar modifications are seen for other period strut folding cameras, such as Ica Minimum Palmos or Mentor II.
The struts are substituted by a wooden casing, and the front panel is removable without any movements but allowing the use of different lenses. The distance scale is seen from behind for rapid focusing.
This camera is for plate format 9 x 12. The shutter is the VN focal plane installed on other Van Neck Press cameras, delivering speeds in the range 1/10 to 1/1000 plus T.
